Dear Epson:
Making a combo printer/scanner is a really cool idea.  it saves desk space, and gives plenty of functionality.  The problem with yours (Stylus NX415) is that it becomes completely debilitated when it is out of red ink.  It cannot print in black and white, it cannot scan, it won't even finish booting, demanding that I acquiesce to its ransom of functionality in exchange for red ink.

So, until I have a chance to hit up Staples for more ink, I won't be able to scan.  Yes.  it's stupid.  but that's why there has been no art lately.

So I've been away.  I know.  My poor profile is so neglected.  I have a sketchbook full of stuff.  I'm gonna see what I can do about adding it here, and make use of this space.  I'll try for at least one each day, life permitting.

Getting ready to move soon.  That will disrupt deviations, but with luck, not terribly so.  Hopefully, our app comes back OK, and isn't an elaborate phishing scheme.  Most of my stuff has been pencil on lined paper.  I'll use photoshop to clean those up, and upload a clean copy where possible.  Most of my stuff is done while at work, and some days are just not conducive to drawing.

In case any one didn't know, it is extremely hot in Phoenix this time of year.  I miss New England terribly, but I wish I could bring all my awesome friends with me.  I think I need a job where I get to go between New England and Phoenix regularly.  That would be cool, but might involve going into the corporate side of my company.

New deviations start tomorrow.

holidays were decent.  nothing hugely good or bad about them.  it was actually 32 degrees in tempe, which pleased me.

I'm looking forward to my brother coming into town this feb.  We have a substantial laundry list of things that need doing.  In order of calendar date:  Tranzylvania, Fetish ball, D&D, flippies and kickies (meaning  we'll be bouncing around like lunatic acrobats)some rock climbing, skiing, dinner with papa bear, and game works.

D&D 4e is a thing of pure beauty.  from a roleplay standpoint, it has mechanics to support, few rules that stifle.  from a  mechanical system standpoint, it is near-perfect.  it's t the point that I can run two games simultaneously without much difficulty.

I'm back into the swing of MUGEN.  Supergirl is about ready for ragdoll testing.  stay tuned for more info.

Smash Bros is awesome.  I don't mean that the game is particularly well-made, or that the graphics hold any elevated standard, but when I've got half a bottle of mead in me, and my room mates have had a reasonable amount of beer, it's still most enjoyable to kick the crap out of each other, and cuss like sailors.

I've gone back to an old addiction, and have gotten most of my pokemon up to around L.70 in Diamond.  Colin and Travis are on board with this, and my girlfriend is down for anything that lets er be social in the group.  Davey-poo fails, and keeps playing "I wanna be the Guy"  (such a stupid game)

so I was with Darrin, at Burger King (he had to use the facilities, and I was thirsty) when this dude comes in "Anybody own a silver VW?  I replied that I did.  it seems he parked his truck on my hood.  (!!!)

so he hands me his insurance card, I look at his truck...  "That's a funny looking Mustang you've got there."  he goes "OOPS!" and pulls out a freaking poker deck of insurance cards.  I'm like...  "...Well, at least I know you're good for it!"

I'm still waiting to hear back from his agent

I've moved on past MUGEN, and started drawing again.  being broke makes entertainment scarce.  expect a few new things from me soon.

So I'm in a new room mate situation, having moved in with my old friend Colin.  This is productive, since it's a block from work, close to food, and Costco.  I've had promotions at work, and have a half-decent amount of cash again.  New girlfriend means I am no longer brooding in my cave quite so much, and our contact being restricted to once a week keeps things fresh.  that will last another month, or so, and then we will be spending a bit more time together.

I'm still not sleeping much, but it's rare that 4 AM is the time that I crash.  unless I am talking to Darrin, and haven't the heart to kick him out so I can crash.  my compassion for that boy holds few bounds.  mostly because I know what he has to go home to, and I wouldn't wish that thing that calls itself his girlfriend on my worst enemy.

so the room mate who owed me money never did pay me.  instead, she skipped town.  I should hunt her down and cut out her ovaries to strangle her with.  Fortunately for all involved, I lack the motivation to do so.

Artistically, I've been devoting my efforts to a MUGEN sprite of Supergirl.  more news on that as it develops.  MS paint is the DOS of imaging software.  brilliant for its simplicity, and infuriating for the same reason.  I do, however, have a full copy of CS3, which is win and awesome.  unfortunately, Spriting is too small in scale for it to be truly useful.

I had to reformat my desktop, and lost most of my sprites, and artwork.  I did, however, get a new laptop, which is pure unfettered win.

Work has me kind of burned out, so I got a transfer to another department.  this serves several functions, including my not needing to talk to idiots in other departments, not caring about metrics, not getting fired for metrics that I've been shaky on, and padding my resume with additional skills and responsibilities, making me more hire-able at a later date.  Until I went L2, I didn't realize just how incompetent the rest of the company is.  I have three call centers that are now on my list of places devoid of real human intelligence.

the crack in my windshield is gone, but some jackass nailed my rear bumper in the parking lot.  it's not bad.  just a small crack, and a dangling light, but it's still annoying as all hell.  With any luck, insurance will cover it.

I miss the snow.
